Want to know where its heading and how you can support if you like.

Since getting into didgeridoo playing I've been inspired by  its healing power and potential. Its an amazing musical instrument but it seems to instill and inspire much much more.

Every person who teaches, performs, makes, or plays has a different slant on this instrument. This is its beauty. Its like everyone of us, individual and perfect.

If theres  one slant on didg that I feel  has been  not given much attention is, why  is it so haunting and powerful, what is its  symbolic and physical role as such as  popular instrument in our times, how do we open to it as a healing instrument, how can we journey with it as a sacred instrument.

Many  are passionate about this, but  few are sharing this from a western persons perspective. Hearing from Traditional indigenous folk gives us a glimpse in how didg  is a sacred instrument  in a tribal context, but  does it help us open to how we can integrate the sacred and spiritual into  our own didgeridoo journey.

Didgeridoo takes  us there  on some level anyway. What worries me is the nature of western approach to any instrument, is to dissect it understand  it and master it. Technical mastery in playing is fast becoming  or already has become the focus. Whether conscious to it or not, very little attention is given to the spirituality side other than the  western or tourists way of buying spirituality by listening to talks, watching aboriginal dancers, going to a didg workshop, etc. Spirituality becomes a commodity something that is consumed like our music or entertainment these days.

Didgeridoo   was not the focus  traditionally it was one of many instruments and voices weaving a story a ritual, celebrating life.

Over my 10 years  playing didg which is such a short time, my   interest   has been to explore the sacred side of didg. For 4  years now I have been in the process of writing a book that  is well underway. I  also am working on a  Video - instructional -with  a difference. It  is in the early days  of  being put together. So far I have kept what I've been working on contained, building on these projects over time.

Bearing in mind the content on our site, that does touch on many aspects shared above, I am regularly prompted  "you should write a book", and  " how's the book coming along". The many comments and   also the energy involved in bringing it through  has prompted me to open to support.

In lieu of having the financial resources to devote my whole time and commitment  to it, I continue to share as much as I can  via the web site and through making and bringing together highest quality didgeridoos made in a present sacred way. As , days  months  and seasons pass I progress closer to  seeing the book a reality but its slow. I am a  didg fella, craftsman artist  who has built this biz with love and sweat and tears. It looks after my fam,  it inspires me and it involves lots  of  cutting wood  carrying water as the saying goes.

One part of me  is happy to be that, another part desires to share more with others.

I have talked of traveling and sharing with folk.  I   look forward to this like  nothing else. This will come once the book is finished.

When I get over your way, my  talks or didgeridoo workshops   will be  about  sharing my process as one slant on didgeridoo ,  and  about inspiring thought and feeling in our playing. My workshops are not instructional in a western way. My whole approach is to bring the sacred into the process and explore that together. We cover   similar ground but in a different way.

In some ways this personal  open letter to you my didg  friend, is also a letter to spirit, saying I'm ready for more support to see this come through.

On a practical level this  letter may lead to direct  support or investment/ partnership or as any intent put out  with strength and purpose, it may come back in ways  seemingly unconnected.

If your inspired to  read this book or to watch a didgeridoo video instructional that integrates  learning the didg in playful and sacred ways, then  hang in there they are  on the way. If you'd like to offer practical support, there are a few ways you can help.

Buying our didgs of course helps.  Any   direct contributions towards the book, video project of A$40 or more  will  go directly towards printing and production costs. They will  be especially helpful as I am endeavoring to set aside funds now to prepare the way. I will send you a  signed copy  of  either book or video. Any larger contributions will be very gratefully received and again  committed directly to their  production and financing a lap top I need  to move  the book along ( I have one computer at the biz and look to have one at home or on the move, to work on the book).

One part of me thinks, gee  are I presumptuous to  ask this. I am being forward  yes , lateral, creative, yes but  mostly  drawn by  a vision to  see the sacred side of didg explored more.  I've come to that place of being willing to do what it takes to see it come to fruition. Its close. I am happy to share my excitement and my process.

I f you know anyone who may be interested in supporting, any help there would be appreciated. You  may hear of benefactors  who are known to support creative and  inspirational projects.

For further information about   supporting, or partnership or investment  possibilities, or what funds I'm needing to get it of the ground, etc ; email  and we'll explore.

Thanks for taking the time to  read about  my passion for  didgeridoo and where I desire to take it. If you've read this far , I bet your passionate about didg too. Its a great journey didgin , hey.

All power to where it leads  us .

didg on an on an on, Tynon
